Magnetic resonance imaging can be used to make inferences about neuronal activity in the brain when a task is carried out, or when the brain is "at rest". To make inferences about task related brain activity, the functional MRI images are converted to statistical maps that are overlaid on top of an anatomical MRI image. How are these activation images calculated? The tutorials on this page are designed to help you understand the significance of the data processing steps that will generate these statistical activation maps and topics that are related to this type of research. Currently, the "Overview of fMRI analysis" tutorial is the only full tutorial to be finished. Fortunately, many resources are available on the world wide web, and selecting one of the other topics will bring up a page with carefully selected and highly relevant links to online tutorials and reading materials.
